Should You Spy on Your Cheating Spouse?

Clearly when you believe you have a cheating spouse on your hands, you’re going to be desperate to find out the truth of what you suspect.  However, what you must avoid is leaving yourself open to being prosecuted with all the results that that can bring you!

In short, there are certain things you can do and certain things you cannot do – of course this all depends on your state and or country laws.  So if in doubt, check it out BEFORE you take action.

Recording Your Spouse’s Phone Conversations

It might seem like an obvious thing to do.  You suspect you have a cheating spouse, you decide to record their phone conversation and that’s how you’ll get the proof and catch a cheating spouse.  Only, did you know that in some areas of the world, it is illegal for private citizens to record a phone call.

The only time it’s legal to record someone’s phone conversation is

i) When you’ve informed both parties on the phone call that you’re recording the conversation (usually for an interview)

ii) When a law enforcement officer, with a warrant does so.

Recording Your Spouse’s Online Chat Sessions

Most people will hate the idea of using some kind of software to catch a cheating spouse out as they surf and chat online.  For many just the idea of surreptitiously logging their spouse online, is a step they can’t take.  However, when emotions and anger take over, things can change rapidly.

If you decide to use keystroke loggers to spy on your cheating spouse online, you can record everything they do online without them even knowing it.

However, while key logging devices and software are no more illegal than microphones and recording software, the same laws that apply to phone communications, generally apply to electronic communications as well.

Generally you can legally install one on your OWN computer.  But as to using them to track your cheating spouse, again, check with the laws in your own area before you go ahead and gather information.

Using a GPS Tracking Device on Your Spouse’s Car

In most American states, it’s actually legal to place a GPS tracking device on the car that your spouse drives, IF your name is also on the title.
