Can a Cheating Spouse Ever Change?
Whenever someone sits down and asks this question, the usual response is that “once a cheat, always a cheat!”
But it really isn’t that cut and dried!
Truth is people are people and they cheat for a whole range of reasons. The reasons they will or won’t stop, are then just as varied.
If your spouse has done the dirty on you and you’re wondering if it’s worth carrying on, take a good long look at what has happened and why it has happened.
If your spouse has been regularly cheating on you virtually from day one, then you need to ask yourself IF your cheating spouse can ever change? Some people, it doesn’t matter what they have at home they are always going to cheat. They’re “players!”
Players love the chase, they love the new, they love the game and they love the idea that they’re doing something they shouldn’t be doing. I have to say, these are the people who will struggle in a long term monogamous relationship.
Now if your spouse cheated at the Christmas party. Or on a night out with the guys and they have never done anything like that before, then there is a great possibility that they may never do anything like it again.
The trick, in a situation like that, is to make damn sure you sit down with your spouse and get to the core of what went wrong. How they felt when they decided to cheat, how they feel now and if for them that’s it! They’ll NEVER cheat again. If you can get the answers to these questions and they are the answers you need to go forward, then weigh those answers against your overall relationship.
Because yes, there is a chance that a cheating spouse can change. It’s just up to you to realize and be honest about what kind of cheat you’re dealing with.
